History of Events
In December 2009, Terry Nero was involved in a court case trying to protect a family member from Todd Attkisson who was subsequently incarcerated. During this case, evidence was presented that proved to be extremely damaging as it pointed to atrocious criminal activity. Mr. Nero was relying on the confidentiality of the justice system to conceal the facts and evidence presented during this case. His belief was that this confidentiality would ensure his own safety as well as the safety of his family. Incredibly, that did not occur. The presiding judge was Hon. Margaret Deglau.
On the night of March 11th, 2010, the shooter quietly entered Mr. Nero's backyard in the dark of the night, hid in the small tree lined area with shrubs around with a single goal in mind. From his vantage point in in the bushes, the shooter took a single shot through the kitchen window, attempting to kill Mr. Nero with a single shot to the head while his elderly mother stood right next to him. Unfortunately, his mother had to bear witness to this gruesome event. Fortunately, the shot missed slightly and struck him in the jaw. It was pure coincidence that Mr. Nero's mother was visiting that evening and thank God she was. Had she not been there that evening, he most definitely would not be alive today, as was the shooter’s intent. It has been determined that this was a calculated and meticulously long time planned assassination attempt on Mr. Nero’s life, very likely a murder for hire.
In 2013, the Hanover police assisted the arrested Todd Attkisson and he was charged and convicted due to some of the evidence Nero presented in the 2009 case he was involved in prior to the shooting. These charges and the conviction were not for the shooting and can be researched and found elsewhere by internet search.
As a result of this disfigurement and traumatic injuries Terry Nero has endured over eight years of 40+ reconstructive surgeries and procedures. Those surgeries and procedures have occurred at MCV/VCU in Richmond, St. Mary's Hospital in Henrico and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. The reconstructive surgeries are to date not completed and will not ever be able to give Terry Nero a normal life again.
Astonishingly, the authorities have not disclosed names of suspects or people of interest or made arrests in the shooting case leaving many people speechless as to why. There is a large population in the metropolitan Richmond community that know what happened and the motive but have until recently been unsure as to how to divulge what they know. We're asking that you help by joining those that have spoken up and contribute anything you know, may have heard anyone say, regardless of how insignificant you think it is, or saw anything that could have an impact on this case. This unfathomable attempted murder is unacceptable for no arrest to have occurred to date. Our society depends on accountability and without the proper resources to take criminals off the street, we all need the upstanding citizens to make a stand against premeditated murder that goes unpunished. If you know anything, please call CrimeStoppers at the number below. Your identity does not have to be revealed. If you know anything or want to know anything , you are not alone. If you prefer to call the Henrico Police, please call 804-501-5000. The police are eager to talk to you, even for an inquiry as to what else is needed in the case or the status.
To those of you that have provided information, we thank you immensely. To those of you that have information and are reluctant to step forward, consider the consequences to all involved and we hope that you are not reluctant due to the fact that Terry Nero lived as reason enough to be comfortable holding on to the information. Terry Nero and his entire family have to live with the results. The consequences to the next person by this murderer could be deadly. We ask if you can live with yourself knowing you have the smallest piece of evidence. This murderer has his sites set on protecting himself and is remorseful, scared and wishes the same as the rest of us, for the nightmare to end and the urge to stop. This can only stop by your stepping forward and speaking up. Please step up and release this prisoner from his fear and continued search of protection from the truth. May god have mercy on him for what he has done and give those of you with dignity the strength to open up and call Crime Stoppers. Please repay your debt for the atrocities this fallen individual has inflicted upon you.
Mr. Nero is quite comfortable talking to anyone about the case with emphasis on what he hopes to be a chapter of his life that will be closed someday soon. His hopes are that the perpetrators will not be on the street ever again to hurt another human being. Unfortunately they are still on the streets today and will most assuredly shoot to kill again.
